HIGH SONGS

The gallery KUNST-KONTOR finishes this year's exhibition season with the hopeful title HIGH SONGS. It is the young painter Vanessa von Wendt's first solo exhibition in our gallery.

Born in 1984 in Göttingen, she studied painting from 2005 to 2010 at the State Art Academy in Düsseldorf. There she attended the class of Markus Lüpertz, whose master class she attended from 2009 to 2010.

In the last few years the artist has developed a completely unmistakable style: graphically, on a luminous color background, figures and motifs are created in their own system of order and meaning, sometimes appearing like inverted silhouettes.

Vanessa von Wendt is an exception among the younger artists. In her art she works with Christian topics. In doing so she draws on the rich fund of art history and adapts figures and postures from these iconographic imagery with which she expresses mental states. In doing so, the artist succeeds in formulating timelessness, which can also be read outside the Christian context as a sign of a generally valid humanistic credo.

For Vanessa von Wendt, her art is a kind of search for meaning and truth, but in the end there is beauty, charity and hope.
